It hailed when I was sleeping.
Hailstones were hitting the windows.
I heard the hail pattered on the roof.
It was a hailstorm.
The noise of hail frightnened us.
I thought the roof collapsed under the weight of the hailstones.
It rained cats and dogs.
It was really noisy withen cold wind.
